Soulhat to appear on soundtrack
Thanks to Austin’s pop nightingale Sarah Sharp, Soulhat will be included on the soundtrack of the new Jason Lee/Crispin Glover caper comedy Drop Dead Sexy.
Drop Dead Sexy, a new dark comedy filmed in Austin, will make wide use of hometown musicians and bands for its soundtrack, says Sharp, who chose and coordinated the music for the film. the film premiered at SXSW Film on March 12, 2005. The Austin artists featured on the soundtrack run the gamut from pop to hip-hop to rock, punk, blues and pop, providing a glimpse into the eclectic music scene that is an integral part of life in the Texas capital. Along with Sharp herself, the Drop Dead Sexy soundtrack features: 54 Seconds, the Breathers, Boombox, Hayes Carll, the CrackPipes, John Evans, Bruce Hughes, Neal Kassanoff, MC Overlord, John Pointer, Kevin Ryan, Te’rell Shahid, Carlos Sosa, Soulhat and the Southern Backbones.
This is the second time a Soulhat track has appeared on a domestic film’s soundtrack. In 1997, The Bonecrusher was used on the US soundtrack for the animated film, Tekken.
